Lavender Strong at North Wilkesboro

Mooresville, NC (09/07/10) - The re-opening of the Historical North Wilkesboro Speedway, which had been closed for 14 years, will be memorial for Jody Lavender. He started on the pole and led the first 128 laps. From laps 129 through the final lap 200, it was the Jody Lavender and Chase Elliott (son of Bill Elliott) show. The two drivers battled back and forth but when the checkered flag fell, Elliott had the win and Jody had to settle for 2nd again.

After the race, Jody said, “It’s good to finish second but I’m naturally disappointed we didn’t win. The car was great all night, my pit crew did a great job, but we got a couple of bad breaks on the track that hurt us. But on the other hand, I have a lot of personal satisfaction. This was a car I built in my shop (Custom Race Chassis) and it was competitive against a field of top fast race cars and drivers. The 16-year old track record set by Ernie Irvan was broken in qualifying.”

Jody also said, “We’ll be at the NASCAR K & N series race on Friday, September 17th in New Hampshire, and back for the PASS race at Hickory, NC on September 25th.”
