Lavender Strong in New York
Mooresville, NC (08/04/09) - Sometimes Jody
Lavender may be satisfied with a 3rd place finish in the
NASCAR Camping World East series but Saturday night at
the New York Adirondack Speedway, he finished 3rd and
was not satisfied. He had a comfortable lead on
lap 145 of the 150 lap event and a late race caution was
not what he wanted to see. Jody had taken the lead
on lap 107 and appeared to be on the way to another win
before a caution flag changed the complexion of the
race. On the restart, Steve Park, who has raced
and won in all three of NASCAR’s top series, was able to
get by and win the race. Also, point leader Ryan
Truex in the Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota, was able to
get by for second place.
After the race, Jody said, “Naturally I’m disappointed
that we didn’t win but most of all I’m disappointed for
our team. These guys deserved the win because of
all the hard work they put into this racecar. I
think we would have won if not for that last caution.
It took about 5 laps for our car to get up to top speed
and Steve was better than we were on short runs. I
did all I could to hold him off but on the double file
restart, he was up beside me and he had a better car at
that time. Even with the disappointment, we were
able to move up to 2nd in the points battle. We’re
26 points behind Truex and only 100 points separate the
top six drivers with three races remaining. We
have our work cut out for us and we’ll do our best to be
on the top at the end. Also, we thank our sponsors
‘Custom Race Chassis’ and ‘Jo-Jo Enterprises’ for all
their help.”
The next race is on the road course at Lime Rock, CT on
August 15th, then Loudon, NH on September 18th and
Dover, DE on September 25th. The last 2 races will
be in conjunction with the NASCAR Sprint Series weekend.
