Lavender Battles Road Course in Old Car
 

Mooresville, NC (06/13/08) - Jody Lavender races in the NASCAR Camping World East Series and usually races on oval tracks. He is unofficially 10th in the points standings. He made his first appearance on a road course at Watkins Glen, NY last weekend. He finished 15th but said, “We should have had a top ten. We did a lot of damage to the car when we wrecked early in the race and lost some “down force”. After looking at the banged up car, it looks like it has been in a demolition derby.”

When asked about his first road course race Jody said, “It was fun to drive. We needed a car that was especially built for a “road course” but we had a seven year old oval track car that had been stored in a dumpster. The engine was five years old and had never been rebuilt. We pulled it out, cleaned it up, charged the battery, made a few changes, and went racing. Taking everything into consideration, we had a decent run with what we had to work with.”

Jody’s next race will be at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Friday, June 27th. The race will be in conjunction with the Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series. Jody said, “I’m looking forward to the New Hampshire race. We’ll have a new car ready and hopefully will have all the bugs out and can put it in Victory Circle.”
