Lavender Has Exciting Race in Ohio
 

Durham, NC (September 4, 2007) - After the first race of the Hooters Pro-Cup National Championship Series in Mansfield Ohio, Jody Lavender said, “We didn’t finish as good as we should have but we had an exciting race.”  Jody’s car broke a bracket in practice and he had to start 33rd in the 36 car field. With the help of some good pit stops, he moved up to 4th place by lap 93. Eventually winner Bobby Gill, Gary St. Amant, Lonnie Rush, Jr., Lavender, and Shane Wallace were running nose to tail until Wallace got into the left rear quarter of Lavender and sent him into the turn 2 wall on lap 102. Jody was able to get going again without loosing a lap but, back to the rear again. He again moved through the pack and was trying to pass Chase Pistone for 8th place when the two made contact and both went spinning and again, back to the rear. With only 14 laps remaining, Jody was able to finish 16th. Jody said, “We missed most of practice and the car wasn’t good at the first of the race. But, after making adjustments and the pit stops, this Greased Lightning Ford was strong in the latter laps of the race. The only problem was the track was basically one groove and it was hard to pass because most of the cars are so equal.”

Jody is now 9th in the points standings. The second of five championship races will be at the new Iowa Speedway on September 22nd. Jody said, “We look forward to going back to Iowa again. Last year, we ran good but tire problems hurt us.”

The third championship race will be at Myrtle Beach Speedway on October 6th. Jody said, “I consider Myrtle Beach our home track. We’ve had problems in the last few races there but we have a good JFCO Motorsports car and we’re looking for a win.”

The final two championship races will be at South Georgia on October 20th and Lakeland Florida on November 3rd.
