Jody Lavender Scores Top 10 at Home
 

Durham, NC (June 26, 2007) - Jody Lavender drove his JFco Motorsports Greased Lightning No. 4n Ford Fusion to a top-10 finish in the June 23 Greased Lightning 200 USAR Hooters Pro Cup Aaron’s Southern Division event at Myrtle Beach Speedway, his home track.

As a regular in Pro Cup’s Sears Auto Center Northern Division, Lavender was not racing for points and had to qualify on time. Despite struggles in practice, when it came time to qualify and race Lavender showed he was there to race.

Jody is always a fan favorite during the autograph sessions.

And it was nice for the large number of Jody Lavender fans in the stands, who came to cheer on their hero from nearby Hartsville, S.C. But their hero had his hands full all day, not only with a car that didn’t practice well, but with a film crew recording every moment.   Ed Robertson, of the rock group Barenaked Ladies, sang the National Anthem prior to the race, then worked as Lavender’s front tire carrier for an upcoming episode of his reality cable TV series, “Ed’s UP!” Robertson experienced training and conditioning

from PIT Instruction & Training, which also provided Lavender’s pit crew for the race.
 

“I had a lot of fun working with Ed,” Lavender said. “We had two pretty decent pit stops, and actually picked up positions in the pits, which was good. And I think we got some good information that can help us when we return for the Championship Series. We worked hard during the day and didn’t hydrate like normal, so I drank all the water in the car early in the race; I was pretty worn out when it was over.”

He may have been worn out, but he’s already looking ahead to his next event, the June 30 Lucas Oil 200 on the high banks of Salem (Ind.) Speedway. “We’re going to Salem with expectations of winning the race,” Lavender said. “I think we’re going to run good there.”
