Lavender Moves to Second After Problems
Durham, NC (May 29, 2007) - Jody Lavender’s
first trip to Madison, Wisconsin had some problems but
the final result was that he has moved up to 2nd in the
Northern Division points of the Hooters Pro-Cup Series.
Lavender and car owner, Jay Fogleman, left early Friday
morning to fly to Madison. They should have arrived
around midday but they didn’t arrive until around
midnight. They both spent most of the day in the
Detroit, Michigan airport. They were to fly from Detroit
to Madison but after two plane problems, their flight
was cancelled and they were re-routed through Cincinnati
to Madison. Needless to say, neither one of them wanted
to spend most of their day in the airport.
Saturday produced more delays when rain showers limited
practice and eliminated qualifying for the race. This
was not all bad news because Jody was 3rd in points and
the starting field was set by points.

Once the race started, Jody stayed
around the top-5 all night. After the race,
Jody said, “I wish we could have had a
little more practice. This was our first
trip here and we had to guess a little on
our “set-up” because of the rain shortened
practice.”
The Greased Lightning Ford was strong and
Jody was running 3rd with 22 laps remaining. |
Then another problem struck. Jeff Agnew ran into the
back of Jody causing him to spin, a multi-car “pile-up”,
and a red flag condition.
Agnew was sent to the rear for rough driving. Jody also
had to go to the rear because he was involved in the
wreck.
With only 15 laps remaining, Jody was able to move back
to an 8th place finish. Jody said, “Considering all the
uncontrollable problems we had this weekend, we’re lucky
to finish the race and move up to 2nd in points.”
Jody will compete in the Southern division races at
Peach State on June 2nd and Myrtle Beach on June 23rd.
With a busy schedule, he will also race in all of the
Northern Division races.
Jody picked up another “Greased Lightning Clean Team”
award when he was the highest starter team member.
