Jody Lavender, Greased Lightning, and Race Car Haulers
 

Durham, NC (May 14, 2007) - What do you get when you combine Jody Lavender, Greased Lightning, and race car haulers? Last Wednesday at the annual Darlington Raceway car hauler parade, you could see what has been a winning combination in 2007. The parade is held every year prior to the Nextel Cup race at the Darlington Raceway. It is to recognize the hauler drivers who are responsible for getting all of the race cars to and from all of the races.
 

The activities started at the Florence Civic Center where Jody Lavender and the legendary Bobby Allison signed autographs and hero cards as fans waited patiently in line. Jody signed his Greased Lightning hero cards and Bobby signed autographs and had his racing career books available.

In a parade with NASCAR’s Jim Hunter as grand marshal, Jody, Bobby, and all the drivers in their hauling rigs made the trip from the Civic Center to the downtown Darlington Square where another large crowd was waiting. The blowing of truck horns and a fireworks display added to the excitement. The estimated attendance was approximately 15,000 race fans.

After the excitement settled down, Jody said, “This has been a long and exciting day and I really enjoyed it. It gave me a chance to come home and see many of my friends and fans that I don’t get to see much anymore. It also let me tell and show them how proud I am to be associated with Greased Lightning, JFCO Motorsports, and Jay Fogleman.”

Jody is currently 3rd in the Northern Division points and the next race is May 26th in Madison, Wisconsin.

Jody also plans to compete in the second Southern Division race in Jefferson, Georgia at the Peach State Speedway on June 2nd and also at the Myrtle Beach Speedway on June 23rd.
