Lavender Strong in Virginia
 

Durham, NC (May 4, 2007) - Hartsville SC native Jody Lavender made his first trip to Shenandoah Valley Speedway in Virginia a success with a 4th place finish in the Hooters Pro-Cup series on May 3rd. Lavender had never seen the speedway before but adapted quickly and was one of the fastest cars at the track.

After the race, Lavender said, “The Greased Lightning Ford was very fast tonight.  We had a good shot at winning the race but a couple of unscheduled pit stops for adjustments put us out of sequence with the other front cars. We were faster on long runs and the caution flags at the end didn’t help. If we’d had one more lap, I think I could have passed Gary (Gary St. Amant finished 3rd) but he has always raced me clean and I didn’t take any chances of putting him out. Thanks to our sponsor, Greased Lightning, JFCO Motorsports, and all of our team for their help.” The strong finish moved Jody up to 3rd in the Northern Division points behind Clay Rogers and Gary St. Amant.

Jody also won the $250 bonus from Greased Lightning for the highest finishing driver in the “Clean Team Program” awards contest. This is his second bonus in two races. Jody is one of eight drivers competing in the “Clean Team Program” sponsored by Greased Lightning and The Works.

All eight drivers compete for contingency awards at each series race. The best qualifying driver and the highest finishing driver each receive $250 plus a $25,000 end of the season bonus will be paid to team members based on points earned on the track and off the track for charities and marketing work done on behalf of Greased Lightning and The Works.

Jody will be participating in the annual Darlington Hauler Parade on Wednesday, May 9th.
