Durham, NC (April 17, 2007) - Jody Lavender made his first start in the #4 Greased Lightening sponsored car at the South Boston Speedway.  It was also the first race of the season for the Northern Division of the Hooters Pro-Cup Series.   After working over 50+ hours around the clock at JFCO Motorsports to get the new Ford car ready, the team arrived at the race track late and missed most of practice.

But all the hard work was rewarding when Jody qualified 8th in the 42-car field. The car was fast but soon developed brake problems and a broken wheel.  After making two unscheduled pit stops to fix the problems, Jody stayed in the lead lap but had to restart in the rear.  After finishing 8th, Jody said, “The Greased Lightening Ford was good for the first time out and minimal testing.  Our crew did a great job getting our early problems fixed without loosing a lap.  The car was better on long runs and all the cautions near the end of the race hurt us.  But we have some testing time before the Shenandoah Valley race on May 3rd and we expect to be even more competitive.”
