The
Championship Breakdown
USAR ProCup, Paul Warner (November 20, 2006)
Myrtle Beach, SC - After 29 races, Clay Rogers
stands alone at the top of the Pro Cup lot. He's got an
insurmountable 141-point lead in the standings and only
needs to take the green flag to win his second title in
three years.
Although the championship is a lock for Rogers, there's
nearly $1,000,000 in cash still on the line for the rest
of the competition, making every position crucial in the
Robert H. Brooks Memorial Hooters 300.
Below is a listing of the top-20 drivers in points after
the fifth race of the Championship Series, a South
Georgia Review and a USA Int'l Preview.
 |
14. Jody Lavender (No. 84s H&R Block Ford)
Finish at South Georgia: 16th
Championship Series Points: 612
Points behind 1st: 292
Points ahead of 15th: 4
Point positions gained/lost at South Georgia: 0
Season Avg. Finish: 14.39
Championship Series Avg. Finish: 16.8 |
South Georgia Review
Lavender lost his bumper at SGMP and a shot at a top-five finish in
points. While he didn't lose in positions in points with his 16th-place
finish, Lavender missed out on a prime opportunity to vault into top-five
contention.
USA Int'l Preview
Lavender's '07 plans are up in the air, so he's going to be a little more
aggressive at USA Int'l. If he can grab a top-five finish, he should jump
into the top 10 in points. While it won't be a great year overall, it'll be
a nice finish.
Best Finish at USA Int'l: 4th (9/3/05)
Avg. Finish at USA Int'l: 11.2 (10 starts)
