The Championship Breakdown

USAR ProCup, Paul Warner (November 8, 2006)   (Click Here for Original Article)

Myrtle Beach, SC - Only two races remain to determine what Hooters Pro Cup Series driver will walk away with $200,000 for being the 2006 Hooters Pro Cup Champion.

Actually, Clay Rogers is nearly a shoe-in for the title already.

Through four races of the Championship Series, Rogers has racked up three wins and built a 191-point lead over Woody Howard.

If Rogers goes onto win the title, he will become just the second driver to win multiple titles and the fourth driver to surpass the $1,000,000 mark in career earnings. Rogers will likely end the season with more than $400,000 in winnings.

But behind him, only 100 points separates 10th-place Jay Fogleman (545) from second-place Woody Howard (635). Even Michael Ritch, who sits 20th in points, has a chance to finish second in points. Ritch, driver of the No. 28 Jackaroo Sauces Ford, is only 156 points behind Howard for the runner-up spot.

Below is a listing of the top-20 drivers in points after the fourth race of the Championship Series, a Myrtle Beach Review and a South Georgia Preview.

Myrtle Beach Review
Lavender was looking forward to returning home to MBS, but his homecoming didn't go according to plan. Lavender started 16th and labored to a top-10 finish. It wasn't all bad, however, Lavender did jump three positions in points.

South Georgia Preview
Lavender had good run going at SGMP earlier this year until a run-in with Mardy Lindley that cost him a shot at winning. Lavender spun Lindley and was sent to the tail end of the longest line with just a handful of laps remaining, sending him to a 14th-place finish.

Best Finish at South Georgia: 14th (3/11/06 & 3/12/05)
Avg. Finish at South Georgia: 14.0 (2 starts)
