Finishes 4th in Mansfield, Ohio
Mooresville, NC (October 17, 2006) - Jody Lavender continued to keep
his hopes alive in the Hooters Pro-Cup National Championship with a 4th
place finish in Mansfield, Ohio. Lavender qualified 5th and ran up
front the entire race. He was running 3rd until his power steering
pump went out with approximately 40 laps remaining. He was able to
hold off a hard charging Jay Fogleman until a green-white-checkered flag
gave Fogleman the edge to get by on the last lap. After the race, Lavender
said, “After three bad finishes, we’re glad to be back up front. After
the power steering pump quit, I couldn’t keep the car down like I wanted to
and it gave Jay the opening he needed to get by. But, I really give a
big thank you to our pit crew again. They gave us a great stop.
We pitted with six other front cars and came out in front of all the cars
that pitted. They have been giving us great stops since we made a few
changes. Our next race is at Myrtle Beach on October 28th and we’ll be
there hoping to win the race for our many fans in this area.”
Jody would also like to thank his sponsors; H & R Block, Heritage Community
Bank, and Sears Service Center this week.
Clay Rogers was the winner with Shelby Howard second, Fogleman third,
Lavender fourth, and Gary St. Amant rounding out the top five.
