Jody Lavender Look for Monkey

Mooresville, NC (October 4, 2006) - After three “bad-luck” races, Jody Lavender is looking for the monkey that is on his back. It all started at the Hooters Pro-Cup race in Lakeland, Florida when Jody was running 3rd and “debris” came from nowhere, cut Jody’s right front tire and put him in the wall. This car was a total loss and out comes the “back-up” car. The next race was in Iowa and after running up front and leading several laps, Jody lost three laps when he had to make two green flag pit stops for tires. He made up two laps but still finished one lap down.

This past weekend didn’t change at Jennerstown, Pa.

After qualifying 3rd, Jody was up front and hoped to stay out of trouble but on lap 20, oil from a blown engine in another car put four of the top five cars out of the race. Again, Jody was out of the race due to circumstances beyond his control.

After going 31 laps down, Jody’s pit crew worked to get the battered race car back into the race. Jody was able to run laps the same speed as the leaders but again, another bad finish.

Jody said, “I owe a lot to my pit crew. They worked hard to get us back into the race and kept us competitive in lap times. We didn’t think we could get the car competitive but I’d like to say a “big thanks” to our pit crew. They didn’t give up and showed we still had a good but battered car. I’d also like to thank our sponsors and we’ll be back. The problems we’ve had the last three races have not been our fault and maybe the “law of average” will be with us at Mansfield, Ohio on October 14th. But the main thing is we won’t give up. We’ve taken a big hit in the championship points and now we will try to win every race we enter. There won’t be any points racing for us. We’ll just let them fall where they fall.”
