Lavender Crashes Hard in Lakeland Race

Mooresville, NC (September 4, 2006) - Jody Lavender went into the final race of the Southern Division of the Hooters Pro-Cup Series hoping to improve on his 9th place points standing.  After qualifying 8th, he moved up to 5th and then came out 3rd after a good pit stop.

But on lap 157, Jody ran over some debris left on the race track, cutting the right front tire and sending him hard into the third turn wall and back to 10th in the point standings.  Jody was checked out by the medical personnel and released.

After the crash, Jody said, “We probably had the best car we’ve had all season and I think we had a good chance of winning the race. But, it’s like most of the races this year; we have been running good but always come up a little short. “Birdie” gave us a good car tonight and our pit crew did a great job as we picked up three positions on our pit stop. I wish we could have won it for them.”

Jody continued, “It’s going to be tough going into the first Championship race in Iowa on September 15th.  The car we wrecked in Myrtle Beach, when we were knocked into the wall, is still not quite ready and the car we wrecked tonight may not be repairable.  But, we definitely won’t give up and we’ll give 100% in the Championship races.”
