Presents Problems for Lavender

Mooresville, NC (June 26, 2006) - Jody Lavender wasn’t
concerned when he qualified 15th for the Aaron’s 250 at the Myrtle
Beach Speedway. He said, “We knew we had a good car and we basically
were riding around saving our tires.” But, when he came in for a pit
stop, the car in the next pit blocked Jody in and also his crew
unintentionally knocked Jody’s new tires off the wall which started
a mad scramble to find the tires. |
The result was one lap lost in the pits and only part new tires. Jody was
in a good position to make up the lap when he was penalized by USAR
officials and received a drive-thru penalty under the green flag. The result
was now two laps down. While trying to make up his laps, the same car that
had caused the pit stop confusion ran into Jody going into turn three and
knocked him into the wall, causing extensive damage to the rear end. The
final result: Out of the race and a 24th place finish.
The good news is that the next Hooters Pro-cup race will be at Hickory
Speedway on July 8th, where Jody had a strong run and finished 2nd last
year.
