Lavender Fast at Lakeland - But has Problems

Mooresville, NC (June 6, 2006) - Jody Lavender was fast in the Hooters Pro-Cup race at the Lakeland, Fla. USA Speedway last weekend but could salvage only a 19th place finish.

Lavender was the fastest car in practice and qualified at 22.24 seconds but had to start behind Jeff Fultz with a 22.21.

Around lap 100, Lavender’s car came to a halt with a faulty alternator and battery. He lost 10 laps in the pits changing the battery. After returning to the track, he was able to run with eventual winner Shane Huffman, but could not make-up any of the lost laps.

Lavender’s next race will be in the NASCAR Busch East race at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on Saturday, June 10th. Lavender’s optimistic about his chances at Greenville. He said, “This will be our first race in the Busch East series but we’ve tested twice and also raced there several times. Greenville has always been one of our better tracks and we think we’ll be competitive.”
