Lavender Continues to Run Strong

Mooresville, NC (April 10, 2006) - Jody Lavender has had strong runs in the first four races of the 2006 Hooters Pro-Cup Series.

In the first race of the season at Lakeland, Florida, he was running in the top-five when a ball joint broke, but he still salvaged a 9th place finish.

The second race of the season was at the South Georgia Speedway where Jody qualified 4th and led part of the race until a bad pit stop dropped him back to 24th. He charged back through the field and was running 3rd but when he tried to past Mardy Lindley for 2nd, they made contact causing Marty to spin and Jody was sent back to the rear. With only a few laps remaining, he had to settle for a 14th place finish.

On to Montgomery, Alabama, Jody was running 4th with two laps remaining. He was passing for 3rd, but got spun out. Again, back to the back but he was able to finish 9th.

Last Saturday night, Jody had an eventful night at Peach State Speedway in Georgia. He qualified 6th and ran in the top until tire problems dropped him back to 20th. He moved back towards the front but again tire problems caused him to go towards the back. He was spun in turn one by another driver and lost a lap. After installing new tires, he passed the leaders to move him back in the lead lap. After being involved in another wreck, he was back in 14th place and moved up to a 4th place finish in a car that looked like it had been in a demolition derby.

In commenting about the first four races, Jody said, “We have had a strong car at all four races and should have a win and a second, but our finishes have not been as good as they should have been. We’re 6th in the points. Last year at this time, we were 18th and we’ve completed all laps in the last eleven races. We’re very optimistic about the season.”

All races are on tape delayed on the Speed Channel on Wednesdays at 5 pm and again at 12 noon on Fridays. For more information, go to www.jodylavender.com, www.usarprocup.com, www.usarfans.com, www.karnac.com, and www.speed51.com.
