Lavender has Strong Run at Myrtle Beach
 

Mooresville, NC (June 30, 2005) - Hartsville native, Jody Lavender, didn’t finish as well as he would have liked but overall had a good run in the Hooters ProCup race at Myrtle Beach last Sunday afternoon. The race was originally scheduled for Saturday night but rain postponed it until Sunday afternoon.

Lavender started 8th in the 250-lap race and had moved up to 2nd by lap 89, when he came in for a scheduled pit stop. The pit stop didn’t go well when a lug nut came off and he had to go back in for a second stop. The bad pit stop put him back to 17th place but on lap 140 he was back up to 10th place. Again, disaster struck on lap 141 when another competitor ran into the back of him and spun him out doing extensive damage to the car. Again, back to the back of the pack, he moved up to a 6th place finish at the end of the race.

After the race Lavender said, “We had a good car today and had a good chance of winning, but circumstances kept putting us to the back of the pack. But, we’ll be back at Hickory on July 9th for the next race and hopefully we’ll have a little better luck.”

Lavender has now moved up to 8th in the Southern points standing and continues to improve every week. After the first two races he was 24th after problems in both races.
