Lavender Looks
for Second Hooter's Win at Myrtle Beach on Saturday,
June 25
Mooresville, NC (June 17, 2005) - Hartsville
native Jody Lavender now lives in Mooresville NC but
Myrtle Beach SC will be his favorite place on Saturday
June 25th when the Hooters Pro-Cup Series competes at
the Myrtle Beach Speedway.
Lavender says, “Myrtle Beach has always been one of my
favorite tracks, and it’s also our “home-track” in the
Hooters series. Many of my friends, fans, and family
will be there and nothing would be better than to get
our second win of the season in front of them. I think
we have a good chance of winning. We tested last week
and the car was good. Since our win at Ace Speedway, we
have the confidence that we can win on any track on the
circuit, but the competition is tough.”
After starting the season with mechanical problems in
the first three races, Lavender has now moved into a tie
for 11th place in the Southern points.
The Hooters Pro-Cup series has a Southern and a Northern
division. At the end of the season, the top drivers in
each division compete in a five-race battle for the
national championship. Both divisions have a list of
drivers that could be called the All-Star drivers. The
Southern division has such names as Shane Huffman, Clay
Rogers, Jay Fogleman, Toby Porter, Bobby Gill, Mark
McFarland, Mike Garvey, Shane Wallace, Matt Carter,
Randy Gentry, Billy Bigley, Jr., Chase Pistone, Jason
Sarvis, Michael Ritch, and Jake Hobgood. The Northern
division has such names as Benny Gordon, AJ Frank, Mardy
Lindley, Jeff Agnew, Gary St. Amant, Joel Kauffman,
Johnny Rumley, Danny Sammons, Mart Nesbitt, Mike
Laughlin, Jr., and Jimmy Spencer, Jr.
